Minisymposium "Mass Spectrometry of Small Melecular Drugs"
Minisymposium "Mass Spectrometry of Small Melecular Drugs" took place in April 8 - 9, 2008, Uppsala, Sweden.
Mass Spectrometry of Small Molecular Drugs
Mass spectrometry (MS) is the most important tool for identification purposes in drug discovery and drug development. Compounds that have to be identified are impurities in drugs and excipients, metabolites, and biomarkers. MS is also useful for quantification of drugs and metabolites in biological materials where a high selectivity is essential. During recent decades, MS has undergone a dynamic development especially regarding new tools for ionization and for data treatment. The purpose of this meeting is to illustrate state of the art for MS techniques in the analysis of small molecular drugs and related compounds from discovery to clinic.
